Whiskey Sour

My Grandma Marion used to have happy hour every day.  Sometime around 5pm the adults would get a nice, stiff cocktail, the kids would get Shirley Temples and we would sit around with a bowl of salted nuts, watch the sunset and sip our drinks.  Lately I’ve been forcing myself to stop–actually just stop the cooking, laundry, homework, crazy family chaos for 5 minutes–make a little drink, take it outside to the front porch and sit down.  The combination of the stopping, and the fresh air, and the drink….awesome.

Whiskey Sour

Ingredients

  • 2 oz
    whiskey (I prefer rye)

    superfine sugar
  • 1 TBLS or more to taste
lemon juice (Meyer is delicious here if you can find them)
  • 1 TBLS
    lime juice

Cooking Directions

  1. Shake vigorously with ice and strain into martini glasses. Stop, sit and enjoy.
